As a consultant at BOSCH, Ronald Melster led an extensive process improvement program aimed at raising the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) level. Although BOSCH already had a documented standard process, achieving the required ASPICE level was challenging as there were no system requirements for already developed control units at the beginning.
GAP analyses were carried out and detailed process improvement plans were created and successfully implemented, tackling the non-engineering processes first. Within the first year we reached ASPICE Level 1 and in the following years we worked continuously to raise the level to 2 and finally to 3.
The big advantage of ASPICE Level 3 is the reproducibility of project results and increased efficiency in development. In the last years of the project our expertise in cybersecurity also developed and the team worked closely with BOSCH to ensure that their development processes were state of the art.
This project was a good example of how careful process improvement and ASPICE level raising can significantly increase effectiveness and quality in product development. It was an honor to be part of this successful program and to take BOSCH's development to a new level.
